SDSC Technology Forum Breakfast: A Distributed, National-Scale Data Caching Platform for Big Data

June 14, 2018 @ 8:30 am - 10:30 am

Download PRESENTATION (large file)

Join Professor of Physics and SDSC Distributed High Throughput Computing Lead, Dr. Frank Würthwein, as he discusses a global data federation platform developed for the high energy physics community comprising about 150 petabytes of data worldwide.  This state-of-the-art technology supports moving very large data sets in proximity to high performance computing resources around the world to provide for data analysis using optimal resources.  In an age where big data analytics and cloud computing are being adopted across many industry segments, this technology and the lessons learned from its development can benefit companies faced with similar challenges.  A tour of SDSC’s 19,000sf data center to follow roundtable.

Location: SDSC Synthesis Center EB-143
Synthesis Center is located on the East wing at the San Diego Supercomputer Center on the UC San Diego campus.
